The average U.S. household has 300,000 things, from paper clips, clothing, ironing boards, canned goods and more.Additionally the average american throws away 65 pounds of clothing per year. Yet there are many people in need that could benefit from the items we no longer need, want or use. Together as a Chapter we hope to do something to change this!
What: For our October Unified Promise we will be hosting a closet and cupboard clean out donation drive! The idea is simple: go though all the items in your closet, pantry, house etc. that you no longer want, use or need- things such as gently used clothing, books, toys, unopened canned goods and housewares! Bring your donations to this event, where volunteers will sort items to be donated to several local area nonprofits and organizations. Some of these organizations include the Ronald McDonald House, The ACCESS Women's Shelter, and Goodwill.
Who: This event is open to anyone! Participants can simply drop off donations, or can choose to stay and help sort as well.
When: Tuesday October 24th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We will be accepting donations until 7:30 PM.
Where: We will be hosting our donation sorting and drop off at the Buchtel Community Learning Center Cafeteria. Please use 703 Gelndora Ave. for directions, since we will be entering on the cafeteria side and not the school.
Items we are accepting:
Gently used clothing for men, women, children and infants
Gently worn shoes
Children and adult books
Zip lock bags
Feminine Hygeine Products
Personal care items such as toothbrushes, shampoo, shaving cream etc
